What you will learn

  • Bundle Summary

Welcome to the 7th annual AIHM People, Planet, Purpose conference and meeting, an annual tradition for members and colleagues that began over 40 years ago at the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) inaugural meeting in 1978. This year’s conference we announced our merger with the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health (ACIH), an organization that has led collaboration in integrative health for decades.  It is our great honor to be working side-by-side with so many ACIH leaders from the acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathic, midwifery and massage community, as well as leaders from yoga therapy, Ayurvedic, and somatic movement communities, together with the global anthroposophic clinicians, integrative medical doctors, holistic nurses and many other professions. We have exciting new partnerships that we unveiled at the meeting, and we held daily Global Leadership Panels with thought leaders from around the world to ask the questions on how to come together to actualize our collective vision of transforming healthcare.

This conference has something for everyone; from integrative pain management to COVID-19 updates, to the latest in transformative leadership, stress management, planetary health and connecting with the sacred and community. You will hear from thought-provoking global leaders such as Otto Scharmer, Zohray Talib, Veerabhadran Ramanathan and Nikki Silvestri. And you will leave lifted, inspired, and ready to return nourished and revitalized to your practice, work and life. As a community of healthcare providers, we know that we need to mobilize and be the change we want to see.

At the conclusion of this activity, you should be able to:

  • Recognize the impact COVID-19 has on integrative health and medicine (IM) practitioners;
  • Identify solutions for building a more resilient healthcare workforce;
  • Discuss the importance of treating the whole person, mind-body-spirit;
  • Recognize the potential role of integrative health and medicine (IM) in preventive medicine, in the management of common medical conditions and chronic diseases and in addressing racial disparities and injustices in healthcare and healing;

  • Access and/or recommend resources for acquiring additional integrative health and medicine (IM) related information for the clinician or patient;
  • Demonstrate tools and resources to incorporate effective integrative health and medicine (IM) tools into clinical practice;

  • Provide tools to assess and address racial injustice within integrative settings;
  • Assess the value of a physician/patient partnership in improving health, patient centered care models, and addressing equity and racial injustices;
