  • This course will help clinicians understand how integrative medicine is different from the allopathic training of a physician by exploring the philosophy of integrative medicine, the patient encounter, and the healing environment. Also explored is the Whole Health approach and the important of clinician resilience and the satisfaction of working with the IM philosophy. This discussion of evidence-based use complimentary modalities and creating an effective healing environment is designed to prepare you for the board exam. 
    By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

    • Discuss the holistic perspective and patient-centered care core to integrative health and medicine.
    • Recognize the framework that comprises an optimal healing environment.
    • Explain the 3 Ps of an optimal healing encounter (Pause, Presence, Proceed)
    • Identify the components of the Whole Health approach.
    • Recognize the importance of clinician resilience in optimizing patient outcomes.

Ingrid Patsch, MD


About Ingrid
Dr. Ingrid Patsch received her medical degree from her home state at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed her Residency at USC-PIH Family Medicine Residency Program in Southern California. Dr. Patsch has spent much of her career in both clinical and academic medicine settings. She has served as faculty with the University of Southern California, University of Irvine, and Southern California University of Health Sciences. After relocating to Tucson in 2017, she served as faculty with the University of Arizona Department of Family and Community Medicine and continues to teach and mentor both U of A Family Medicine residents and medical students.
