  • About 30% of cancer patients rate their health as fair or poor and have unexplained fatigue and/or pain. Cancer survivors are an ever increasing percentage of our population in the United States. By 2022, there will be greater than 18 million Cancer survivors in the United States. In this course, faculty examine integrative medicine approaches to Cancer survivorship to support the wants and needs of Cancer survivors that are not always addressed by conventional medicine.
    By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

    • Examine the role of integrative medicine approaches compared to conventional medicine in Cancer survivorship.
    • Discuss lifestyle changes that have been shown to have an impact on Cancer prevention and survivorship.
    • Identify 10 recommendations that contribute to Cancer prevention.

David Leopold, MD

About David
David C. Leopold, MD, specializes in integrative medicine with an interest in integrative pain management, wellness and lifestyle management, integrative cancer care, cardiovascular disease care, and lifelong weight management. He serves as director of integrative medical education at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in La Jolla, Calif.

Leopold is a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Medicine and is board certified in family medicine. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Management. Leopold is a certified medical acupuncturist and has advanced training in non-pharmacological treatment of pain and diseases, including natural supplements, food as medicine, and mind-body medicine.
