What you will learn

  • Course Summary

  • Recent advances in the field of healthcare acknowledge the importance of including intuition, alongside knowledge and experience, when treating patients (Boyd, 2014; Greenhalgh, 2002; Mickleborough, 2015; Peterkin, 2017). One way to strengthen the communication between the mind and body is through the skill of intuition. Like any other skill, intuitive abilities can be developed and optimized for greater clarity and application. Medical Intuition offers a paradigm-shifting perspective designed to uncover the root causes and underlying drivers of illness, imbalance and disease to not only help promote physical well-being, but also emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Medical Intuition can provide essential support to any Integrative healthcare practice. This course aligns with the conference theme of “People, Planet, Purpose,” by taking participants through an enlivening presentation of the nature and application of Medical Intuition in integrative healthcare praxis. Facilitated discussions enhance the learner’s insight into the common human experience of interconnectedness of people and shared intuitive states. Participants will evaluate the research around intuition in the clinical setting and how it is applied in healthcare. Experiential exercises will provide tools and processes in the use of intuition for healing, bridging theory and evidence to personal experience. The presenters bring key points of view for a comprehensive perspective on intuition, from the areas of research (Dr. Paul J. Mills, Director, Center of Excellence for Research and Training in Integrative Health, Professor, Family Medicine and Public Health, UCSD), education (Wendie Colter, CMIP, CEG, The Practical Path, Inc.), and clinical practice (Tiffany Barsotti, M.Th., C.Ht., M.C.P.L.T, CCT).
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

    • Identify innovative intuitive techniques to meet the new healthcare landscape in mind-body medicine.
    • Demonstrate creative thinking skills using intuitive pathways, giving learners new ways to view and optimize the mind-body connection for holistic self-development.
    • Identify the distinctions of unique intuitive states and applications in the clinical setting.
    • Discuss case reports of trauma-based roots of physical illness, imbalance and disease Analyze possibilities for the deliberate integration of intuition in healthcare.
    • Discuss the state of Medical Intuition research and the design of an upcoming research study on Medical Intuition.
