What is this course about?

Current healthcare systems around the world must shift focus to emphasize health and well-being, disease prevention, planetary health and the interconnectedness of all beings. The current systems are fractionalized, disease based and do not address many of the 21st Century healthcare needs. The panelists will share their experience, wisdom, expertise, perspectives and visions on innovative and disruptive approaches that include addressing the multiple factors that influence health - body, speech, mind, emotions, spirituality, community, the socio-economic determinants of health and the political systems that create healthcare policies.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine and the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine. The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 
The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Meet Your Faculty

Iracema Benevides, MD (Brazil

Iracema Benevides is a specialist in general surgery, nutrition, family health, anthroposophic medicine and homeopathy and holds a Masters in International Health Care Management Economics and Politics. She has worked as a general practitioner in private practice in Belo Horizonte, Brazil since 2013. Previously she served with the Brazilian Minister of Health as a consultant, technical assistant and project coordinator. She has also been a lecturer at the Faculdade da Saúde e Ecologia Humana Medical School and the Medical School of Pontifícia Universidade Católica, both in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Iracema has also collaborated with WHO, PAHO and UNICEF.

Elizabeth (Liza) Goldblatt, PhD, MHA/PA

Elizabeth (Liza) Goldblatt, PhD, MPA/HA, is the Director of National and Global Projects with the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM). Dr. Goldblatt represents AIHM/ACIH Council at the National Academy of Medicine Division of Health and Medicine (formerly the IOM) Global Forum on Innovations for Health Professional Education. She is currently the facilitator representing AIHM/ACIH Council on the development of a global/national course that will support the advancement of interprofessional, collaborative, team-based, patient-centered care that includes both the conventional medicine and the complementary and integrative health disciplines. Dr. Goldblatt has a Masters in Public Administration/Health Administration (MPA/HA) from Portland State University, Portland, OR, and earned her PhD from UCLA, Los Angeles, California, US.

Ryan Bradley, ND, MPH

Ryan Bradley, ND, MPH is a Senior Investigator and Director of Research at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR and an Associate Professor in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Sciences at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Bradley graduated as an ND from Bastyr University in 2003 and received his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Washington in 2009. After completing a residency, Dr. Bradley completed 8 years of NIH-funded clinical research training, including 5 years in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Washington. He is the Program Director or Principal Investigator on 3 active NIH grants. In addition to his research and teaching activities, Dr. Bradley regularly presents on the intersection between Public Health and Complementary and Integrative Health.

Bradly Jacobs, MD, MPH, ABOIM

Dr Brad is a recognized leader in Integrative Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, corporate health, and is an experienced physician, educator, and healthcare innovator. Dr Brad enjoys helping patients improve their vitality and joy on a day-to-day basis, as well as optimize health and well-being through applying his training and experience in conventional medicine, functional medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle medicine (nutrition, fitness, mind-body practices) in collaboration with the fantastic multi-disciplinary BlueWave Medicine health professional team. He is Past Chairman of the Board for the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and a Board member of Human Kind Now – 501c3 providing frontline health workers PPE. He has served as Endowed Professor and Founding Medical Director for the UC-San Francisco Osher Center for Integrative Medicine where he also taught as an Assistant Professor. Previously, he was co-founder and SVP Clinical Affairs at Mytrus Inc. (acquired by Medidata 2017), advisor to Gliimpse (acquired by Apple 2016) and served as Senior Medical Director at Revolution Health Networks (merger with Waterfront Media 2008).

Shamini Jain, PhD

Dr. Shamini Jain is a psychologist, scientist, and social entrepreneur. She is the Founder and Director of the Consciousness and Healing Initiative ( CHI ), a collaborative accelerator which links scientists, practitioners, artists, entrepreneurs, and educators to facilitate the transdisciplinary science and real-world application of consciousness and healing practices. This entity was formed from Dr. Jain’s deep desire to bring key stakeholders together to create a coherent and effective movement to move us beyond the “decade of the brain”, into the “age of consciousness and healing”. Major partners of CHI include the Institute of Noetic Sciences, Miraglo Foundation, and Chopra Foundation. Mimi Guarneri, MD, FACC, ABOIM

Board-certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, and Integrative Holistic Medicine, Mimi Guarneri, MD, FACC, ABOIM is deeply committed to expanding integrative medicine, education and research globally. A leading proponent of Integrative Medicine, she serves on the Founding Board of the American Board Physician Specialties in Integrative Medicine (ABOIM). She is Co- founder and Medical Director of Guarneri Integrative Health, Inc. at Pacific Pearl La Jolla in La Jolla, California, U.S.A. since 2014, where she leads a team of experts in conventional, integrative and natural medicine.
