Course Description

In this lively discussion between integrative concierge internist and former AIHM board chair Bradly Jacobs MD and precision medicine physician and current AIHM board member Sara Gottfried MD, you will learn about broader applications of psychedelic medicine beyond trauma and PTSD, including the use of ketamine, MDMA, psilocybin, and 5-MeO-DMT for various conditions. Bradly Jacobs MD is a concierge physician at Blue Wave Medicine in Northern California, and the board chair and co-founder of Open Mind Collective, a 501c3 committed to clinical services, research, and education for military personnel and first responders struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and seeking personal growth. Sara Gottfried MD is the Director of Precision Medicine at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at Thomas Jefferson University, and a graduate of Integrative Psychiatry Institute’s Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy certification and serves on the faculty at Jefferson and Integrative Psychiatry Institute.   • Review the indications for use of ketamine-assisted therapy, currently the only FDA-approved psychedelic medicine.
  • Define the broader medical and public health potential of healing states of consciousness, including the use of meditation, martial arts, holotropic breathwork, and psychedelics.

Course Outline

Meet Your Faculty

Sara Gottfried, MD

Sara Gottfried, MD is a physician, researcher, and educator. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and MIT, and completed residency at UCSF, but is more likely to prescribe a CGM and personalized nutrition plan than the latest pharmaceutical. Dr. Gottfried is a global keynote speaker and the author of four New York Times bestselling books about trauma, hormones, and health. She is Clinical Assistant Professor in Dept. of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University, and Director of Precision Medicine at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health. Her focus is at the interface of mental and physical health, N-of-1 trial design, personalized molecular profiling, use of wearables, and how to leverage these tools to improve health outcomes.

Brad Jacobs, MD, MPH, ABIOM

Dr. Brad Jacobs, MD, MPH, ABOIM, is a prominent figure in Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine. As Co-founder of the Open Mind Collective, he focuses on healing veterans and first responders through psychedelic medicine. Dr. Jacobs also leads BlueWave Medicine, an integrative healthcare practice emphasizing personalized, team-based, and technology-enabled services. A former Chair of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, he served as Endowed Professor and Founding Medical Director at the UC-San Francisco Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. With a background in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine, Dr. Jacobs graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine. His extensive expertise includes psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition. A published author and editor, he co-authored "The Anti-Inflammation Cookbook." Dr. Jacobs, an avid backcountry skier and surfer, remains dedicated to martial arts and yoga.
